Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill has said that members of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) who vote in favour of the no-confidence motion would stand disqualified and their photos hung up in cities across Pakistan.

Highlighting welfare projects such as Naya Pakistan, the Sehat Card and the Ehsaas programme, Gill said that Prime Minister Imran Khan was not succumbing to political pressure. He further claimed that fuel prices in Pakistan were 60 to 70 per cent cheaper than in the rest of the world.

The SAPM said that PTI parliamentarians who supported the opposition should resign from the party and run for re-election, calling attention to the party’s performance since 2018.

He said that Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had done an excellent job in his post, as had Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khatak.

He said that Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood  was more experienced than the Pakistan Muslim League-N’s (PML-N) entire cabinet. He further said that the PML-N was engaging in anti-PTI propaganda with the help of the media.

The incumbent government has faced various criticisms from the opposition of late, as they gear up for the vote of no-confidence against Prime Minister Imran Khan.  Earlier, Shahbaz Sharif lambasted the prime minister for not knowing the prices of essential food items, saying he had gone into politics to ‘ruin the country and the people’.
