Following the opposition’s no-confidence motion, Prime Minister Imran Khan has been hastily meeting various political allies to solidify support, while reiterating that the move will only make his government stronger.
PM Imran has met with Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, assuring the CM that attempts to oust him from both the opposition and within the party will come to nought. The prime minister also sought the legal opinion of Attorney General for Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Javed Khan regarding the no-confidence motion.
Several legislators also congregated at PM House shortly after the move was submitted, where they reportedly discussed issues in their respective constituencies and uplift projects, according to Dawn.
Heading to Karachi on Wednesday, the PM is scheduled to meet with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) allies, including the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), as well as party leaders in Sindh.
The prime minister spoke to the press following the opposition’ submission, telling journalists, “the government will not be ousted, and will emerge stronger.”
“We will defeat them in such a way that they will not be able to recover from it until 2028,” he assured, adding that he was confident estranged PTI leader Jahangir Tareen would never ‘join these robbers’.
The opposition on Tuesday finally submitted the much hyped no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan with the National Assembly Secretariat.
