Pakistan Stands With Saudi Arabia, Condemns Houthi Drone Attack On Airport
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reaffirmed its full support and solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) following a Houthi drone attack at the King Abdullah airport in Jazan, KSA which injured sixteen people.

"Pakistan strongly condemns the drone attack launched by the Houthis to target King Abdullah airport in Jazan [...] Such attacks not only violate international law but also threaten peace and security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the region. Pakistan calls for immediate cessation of these attacks," the statement from the foreign affairs ministry read.

On Tuesday, Saudi security forces destroyed a drone headed towards the King Abdullah Airport, reportedly launched by Houthi insurgents. Sixteen civilians from various nationalities were injured by shrapnel and broken glass from the attack.

This is the second attack on a Saudi airport by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in as many weeks.  Twelve people were injured in a similar drone attack on an airport in Abha earlier this month.

In December, KSA reported that the Houthis had lodged more than 850 drone attacks and 400 ballistic missiles at Saudi Arabia in the past seven years, killing 59 civilians.

The Yemen Data Project, a non-profit organization, reports that 401 coalition air raids were carried out over Yemen in January alone, with 9,000 civilian fatalities since 2015. Rights groups, including Doctors Without Borders, have denounced the 'the terrible impact of indiscriminate attacks, including bombing and shelling on civilians on both sides of the frontlines'.
