Launched by two sisters, Swaang is a theatre company aiming to promote art and culture through theatre. Its founders, Sanober and Kanwal, hope to polish the skills of participating youth through the different fields of the performing arts.

Currently, there are very few active theatre groups in Islamabad and theatre is increasingly becoming a dying art. Therefore, these two females decided to collaborate with the Institute of Lok Virsa in Islamabad as the site of theatrical performances, owing to its popularity among the residents of the twin cities, as well as its ease of access.

Swaang will be presenting its first play on the 8th of January at Lok Virsa. They hope that this platform will provide exposure to new talents who would ultimately be taking a lead to become part of the local cultural industry.

The new play is a comedy murder mystery written and directed by Safeer Ullah Khan, who is a known respectable figure in the theater fraternity. He has been in this field for the last 15 years and has diverse experience in theater and drama.

“Maine Kuch Nahi Kiya” is a drama consisting of 10 passionate cast members who have been associated with different theater groups. It is a family theater play highlighting mysterious circumstances with a touch of comedy ingredients. The purpose of this play is to promote and inculcate cultural and performing arts values within society.

Sanober Nazir has been associated with the Dastak Group since Mr. Aslam Azhar (late) and Mr. Mansoor Saeed (late) were leading the group in Karachi. She has been involved in various theater and drama productions.

Kanwal Ajmal is a passionate dancer and has performed in Canada and Dubai in different concerts. She has been promoting Eastern dance culture through various platforms.
