Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill is being criticised on social media for a now deleted tweet in which he shared a photo of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz and party lawmaker Marriyam Aurangzeb at Junaid Safdar's wedding event, saying that Maryam Nawaz had given her used clothes to the MNA.
Gill remarked that the Sharif family treats even its inner circle as servants. He wrote that Nawaz wore clothes worth millions designed by Indian and Pakistani designers while giving her used clothes to Aurangzeb.
The tweet elicited strong criticism from social media users. Journalist Benazir Shah wrote, “It is troubling that the ruling party thinks Mr. Gill is a good fit for any public office”.
