PTI Leader Booked For Slapping Policeman During PM Imran’s Visit To Mianwali

A local Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, Amir Khan Swansi, was arrested on Monday for slapping a policeman during a public gathering in Mianwali. The incident took place on Saturday when Prime Minister Imran Khan addressed a gathering during his visit to the city.

District Police Officer (DPO) Mianwali said that Amir Swansi slappe d the policeman when he tried to search him at the entrance. He also confirmed, “A case was filed against Amir Khan after an investigation was launched into the incident.”

Meanwhile, the suspect has claimed that it was a ‘politically motivated’ case against him.

Earlier in 2020, a PTI local leader, Naveed Aslam, was booked by Ghala Mandi Police, Sahiwal for slapping and insulting Senior Female Postmaster (SPM) Officer, Sofia Qasim, in the General Post Office (GPO). According to the eyewitnesses, PTI District Information Secretary, Aslam broke into the the SPM office and slapped the officer for not 'performing well' in the presence of her subordinates.

Meanwhile, the in charge Sahiwal GPO complaint cell revealed that they had not received any complaint from Aslam in the last two years. Aslam had been a regular client of GPO. He was then arrested by police from the site of the incident on the same day but got bail from a court the next day.
