Heads Of Institutions Were Against Me, Couldn't Have Issued Contempt Notice: Shaukat Siddique Tells SC
Justice Shaukat Aziz has said that at the time of the incident the heads of the institutions, including chief justice Saqib Nisar, were against him. He asked what would have happened had he issued a contempt notice?

The Supreme Court while hearing the case of ex-justice Shaukat Siddique questioned why he had not issued contempt of court notice to the army general that came to meet him. The case was being heard by a five-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan, headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial, after a break of six months.

During the proceedings, the court asked Hamid khan, who is representing justice Siddique, why the former judge did not inform the chief justice about the incident, to which the counsel replied that his client had indeed sent a letter to the chief justice of the time.

The court expressed annoyance at justice Siddique’s outburst and warned Hamid Khan to keep his client in check. The counsel apologized to the court and said that his client had been overpowered by emotions.

Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel asked why only justice Siddique was targeted. Justice Ejaz-ul-Ehsan said that rather than the content, it was the manner in which the speech was made that was wrong.

Earlier, Justice Siddique had been removed from his position as an Islamabad High Court (IHC) judge by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) after he delivered a speech in which he accused officers of intelligence agencies of interfering in the judicial process.
