The body of the Sri Lankan factory manager, who was lynched by a mob in Sialkot on Friday, has been repatriated via the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.
Punjab Minister for Minority Affairs Ejaz Alam Augustine and Special Representative to the Prime Minister on Religious Harmony Hafiz Mohammad Tahir Ashrafi, along with Honorary Consul General of Sri Lanka Yasin Joya were present there.
Speaking on the occasion Ashrafi said that the entire nation was grieved by the tragic murder of Priyantha Kumara but assured that the culprits would be punished according to law. He added that the nation would unite to defeat the menace of extremism just as it had eradicated terrorism from the country.
On the other hand, 26 suspects that had been apprehended by the police earlier were remanded into police custody, for 15 days, by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gujrat.
Since Friday the police have arrested a total of 131 suspects involved in the gruesome crime. The police have said that they have also identified the 26 culprits who played a central role in the violent crime.
