Sri Lankan PM Shocked Over Sialkot Incident, But Confident PM Imran Will Bring Perpetrators To Justice

On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had condemned the brutal killing of the Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot for alleged blasphemy.

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa expressed his shock at the heinous murder of a Sri Lankan national in Pakistan and said that he hoped Prime Minister Imran Khan would ensure that justice is served. 

Rajapaksa wrote, “Shocking to see the brutal and fatal attack on Priyantha Diyawadana by extremist mobs in Pakistan. My heart goes out to his wife and family. Sri Lanka and her people are confident that PM Imran Khan will keep to his commitment to bring all those involved to justice”.

On Friday, Prime Minister Imran Khan had condemned the brutal killing of the Sri Lankan citizen in Sialkot for alleged blasphemy. While expressing shock at the incident PM Imran wrote on Twitter, “The horrific vigilante attack on factory in Sialkot & the burning alive of Sri Lankan manager is a day of shame for Pakistan. I am overseeing the investigations & let there be no mistake all those responsible will be punished with full severity of the law. Arrests are in progress”.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also talked about the incident and said that he spoke with his Sri Lankan counterpart and expressed ‘deep grief and condolences’ while assuring him that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
