Sri Lankan Man Killed, Body Burnt In Sialkot For ‘Blasphemy’
A mob in Sialkot brutally murdered a Sri Lankan man and set his body on fire over blasphemy allegations. Priyantha Kumara, the export manager of a private factory, was attacked by workers of the factory on Wazirabad road in Sialkot.

Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rao Sardar Ali Khan directed the regional police officials to reach the site immediately while taking notice of the incident. The IGP said that Sialkot District Police Officer Umar Saeed Malik was present at the location and the incident will be investigated thoroughly.

Meanwhile, Sialkot police spokesperson said that details about the tragic event will be shared with the media once the initial investigation was completed.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has also directed the IGP to thoroughly investigate the incident and submit a report as soon as possible. The CM expressed concern over the incident, terming it “very tragic”.

"Every aspect of the incident should be investigated and a report should be submitted. Action should be taken against those who take the law into their own hands," the chief minister said.

The video of the horrific incident shows hundreds of people gathered at the crime scene. The episode has generated a lot of anger among citizens, on social media, with many blaming the government’s policies of appeasing extremist groups for a rise in incidents of violence.

A video doing the rounds on social media showed a young man confessing to torturing the man to death.
