Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had also directed the IGP to thoroughly investigate the incident and submit a report as soon as possible. The CM expressed concern over the incident, terming it “very tragic”.

“Every aspect of the incident should be investigated and a report should be submitted. Action should be taken against those who take the law into their own hands,” the chief minister said.

The episode has generated a lot of anger among citizens, on social media, with many blaming the government’s policies of appeasing extremist groups for a rise in incidents of violence.
