Opposition Won't Attend The Next National Security Meeting Over Govt's 'Undemocratic Attitude'
Pakistan’s opposition parties have decided to boycott the next meeting of the national security committee due to the government’s 'attitude of ignoring the parliament' and 'bulldozing legislation' through it.

The opposition parties, in a joint press release, said that the government had been ignoring parliament ever since it came into power and treated it as a 'rubber stamp' institution. The statement said that the government was using in-camera meetings to raise issues of public interest that should be raised in the Parliament.

The opposition also accused the Prime Minister of having an undemocratic attitude citing the fact that the PM had not attended any national security meeting held so far.

The opposition said that if they attended the meeting, it would allow the government to showcase an event that is detached from the real issues that the country faces.

The opposition clarified that boycotting the meeting did not mean that they were not serious about the threats to national security. The statement added that the opposition had always treated matters related to law, constitution, and general public welfare with a lot of seriousness.

The press release further clarified that the opposition has attended all such meetings in past, giving elaborate suggestions about tackling the issues even though the prime minister was never present in these meetings.
