Undertrial Property Developer Freed From Police Custody By Armed Men In Rawalpindi
Armed men freed a property developer, Nadeem Ejaz, from police custody after his plea for bail extension was rejected by the Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi bench. The police vehicle transporting Ejaz to the police station was intercepted outside the LHC Rawalpindi building.

The police vehicle was stopped by the culprits driving four-wheelers and carrying guns. After freeing Ejaz from the police, the men took him away while firing in the air.

City Police Officer (CPO) Athar Ismail has ordered Superintendent Police (SP) Kamran Amir to arrest those involved in the incident within 24 hours. The CPO said that teams have been constituted to conduct raids in search of Ejaz and his accomplices. CPO added that a First Information Report (FIR) would also be registered against the accused on charges of resisting the police.

Earlier, Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) official Shahzad Mehmood had registered an FIR against Ejaz for violation of the Punjab Development of City Act. Shahzad had alleged that Ejaz was developing a private housing society without the approval of the RDA.

Ejaz had obtained an interim bail from the LHC which expired on November 30 and was not extended by the court, after which Ejaz was arrested from the court premises.
