Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari has said that the prevailing culture of influencing court decisions over phone calls must come to an end. While addressing a rally in Peshawar, he said that controlling political leaders through courts should be stopped and that the parliament and courts need to act to make sure that such practices come to an end.

He said that it was unfortunate that audio clips revealing the pressure courts face are coming to light. He added that the same people whose audios were coming forward had pressured courts to hand sentences to Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari.

The PPP chairman also criticised Prime Minister Imran Khan for following ‘undemocratic’ practices and said that this would lead to his downfall. He talked about the soaring inflation in the country and said that PPP stood with the people in these difficult times. He blamed the government’s lack of vision for the spiralling prices.

While talking about the election bills recently passed by the government, he said that the prime minister was trying to expand his vote bank without actual voters. He stated that the PPP would challenge this legislation in the courts.

Bilawal also lambasted the government for holding talks with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He said that the government was surrendering before the terrorists without taking the families of APS martyrs into confidence. “The talks will not be accepted until those responsible for terrorism get punished,” he added.
