Karachi Zoological Garden’s senior director Khalid Hashmi has been removed from his post by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). The decision was taken after a rare white lion in the Karachi zoo, whose video went viral on social media and generated a backlash due to the poor condition in which he was kept by the zoo authorities, died.
Following the animal’s death, Karachi Administrator Murtaza Wahab took notice of the matter and sought a detailed report from the zoo management. He vowed to take ‘strict disciplinary action against those found guilty of negligence’.
