PM Orders Probe Against Officer For Equating PTI Govt With Taliban Regime In Afghanistan
Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered an inquiry against senior joint secretary Cabinet Division Hammad Shamimi for posting a comment on social media equating the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government with the Taliban regime in Afghanistan.

In a post published on social media, Shamimi allegedly wrote that the PTI government and the newly established Taliban regime in Kabul are similar in that both are learning the art of governance after assuming power and that both depend on the Pakistani establishment for support.

The Establishment Division issued a notification, on Monday, in which it ordered an inquiry against Shamimi.

The notification read, “The Prime Minister in his capacity as 'Authority' is pleased to appoint Mr. Sanaullah Abbasi (PSWBS-22), Director General, FIA, Islamabad, as Inquiry Officer to conduct inquiry proceedings against Mr. Hammad Shamimi (SGTBS-21), Senior Joint Secretary, Cabinet Division, Islamabad”.

It added, “ the inquiry officer must submit a probe report to the Authority within seven days of the completion of the inquiry with clear findings”

Earlier, in August this year, the government had imposed restrictions on civil servants from using social media. The notification issued at the time stated, "the rule restrains a government servant from making any statement of fact or opinion which is capable of embarrassing the government in any document published or in any communication made to the press or in any public utterance or television program or radio broadcast delivered by him or her."
