'Not My Voice': Saqib Nisar Terms Leaked Audio Clip About Nawaz, Maryam's Case 'Fabricated'
Former chief justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar has reacted to a leaked audio clip wherein he could be purportedly heard saying to an unknown man that Nawaz Sharif has to be punished because "they" have decided to bring Imran Khan into power. The former chief justice said that the voice in the audio clip was not his.

Fact Focus -- a digital journalism portal -- published an audio clip claiming it to be a conversation between former chief justice Saqib Nisar and an unidentified man about Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz's trial.

Dawn quoted Saqib Nisar as saying that the clip was 'fabricated', adding that he has never spoken to the person in the audio call.

In the audio clip, a voice allegedly of Saqib Nisar could be heard saying, "Let me be a little blunt about it. Unfortunately, here it is the institutions that dictate judgements. In this case, we will have to punish Mian sahab (Nawaz Sharif). I have been told 'we have to bring Khan sahib (Imran Khan) [into power].'"

The other man then says that the daughter [Maryam Nawaz] does not merit a sentence. Saqib Nisar then allegedly responds, "You are absolutely correct. I talked to my friends that something should be done about this but they did not agree. The independence of the judiciary will not remain. So, let it be."

The report claims that the audio was obtained some two months ago and was examined by a leading American firm specialising in multimedia forensics. "Garret Discovery has a team of leading experts who have a long experience of analyzing and presenting evidence and testifying before courts in the US," the report said. Fact Focus claimed that the firm’s analysis report certifies the integrity of the audio file and states that “this audio has not been edited in any way”.
