Karachi Couple Shot For Contracting Freewill Marriage, Husband Dies
A couple's car was shot at on Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi for contracting freewill marriage, resulting in killing of the husband and bullet injuries to his wife and brother.

According to a report in Tribune, the attackers are believed to be the relatives of the bride. The victims were returning home after appearing in the court for a hearing when their vehicle was attacked. The assailants were able to escape from the scene after the crime.

The groom lost his life on the spot, while three other people present in the car were wounded. The slain man and those injured were taken to Jinnah Hospital by police and rescue teams.

Police have said that the slain man was identified as Wasim, son of Ijaz. He was 30-years-old. Wasim's wife who was also inured during the incident is said to be in a critical condition.

The couple was seated in the vehicle's back seat, and Wasim's brother, Naseer, was sitting with the driver in the front seat.

East SSP Qamar Raza Jaskani was quoted as saying that Kausar was married to Wasim against the will of her family.

Initial investigation suggests that the murderers include Aziz, Kausar's father, and her brother Nasir.
