Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Senator Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar has reacted to the government’s undisclosed agreement with the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), saying that even a rented shop is not run the way important affairs in Pakistan are being handled.

He called on the government to make the agreement signed with the TLP public at the earliest and take the parliament into confidence. He lamented that the agreement was reached in the wee hours without informing the public.

The senator added that the people of Pakistan have a right to know that what was discussed with a banned group whose workers brought cities to a standstill and practiced violence.

Khokhar noted that the Hazara community who held a protest along with bodies of their loved ones killed in a terror attack in Balochistan was termed ‘blackmailers’ by Prime Minister Imran Khan, yet the state capitulated to a violent group’s demands. He asked if the TLP rioters who killed policemen would be brought to justice.

“Whenever the state has surrendered to extremists, it had had disastrous consequences for Pakistan,” he said.
