Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill has moved a Lahore sessions court, requesting withdrawal of the bailable arrest warrant issued against him by the court a in a defamation case.
The court was hearing a defamation suit filed by a private company against whom Gill had levelled some allegations during a TV talk show.
In September last year, the SAPM had said that the Turkish company M/s Platform Turizm Tasimacilik which is a subsidiary of Al-Bayrak Group of companies signed the metro bus project with the then PML-N government on an inflated amount.
In its petition, the company maintained that the SAPM had 'falsely accused' it during his talk in a TV programme.
The case was heard by Lahore Additional Sessions Judge Hasnain Azhar Shah who issued a warrant against Gill over his failure to appear before the court.
Shahbaz Gill has now been directed by the court to appear before the court in person on November 1.
