Banned TLP Continues Protest Despite Govt's Vow To Treat It As 'Militant Organisation'
Thousands of workers of the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) continue their long march to Islamabad after leaving Kamoke in the morning. Roads have been blocked due to the protest in surrounding areas and citizens are facing difficulties.

Dawn reported that around 4,000 workers of the outfit travelled on the GT Road by large trucks and buses. TLP workers holding sticks guarded the caravan.

GT Road has been blocked in Gujwanwala district since Wednesday. Mobile services have been blocked from Kamoke to Jehlum.

Earlier today, Rangers and police forces were deployed near the Chenab river and Wazirabad border. They aim to stop the TLP workers near the Wazirabad-Chenab river area, as per sources.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar chaired a high-level meeting and reviewed the security situation. He ordered the authorities concerned to 'take every step possible' for restoration of peace in the province, as per a statement released by the government. The chief minister added that no group would be allowed to disrupt citizens' lives, saying that the state is committed to protecting people's lives and properties.

Earlier on Wednesday, Minister for Information Fawad Chaudhry said that the government will now treat the banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) as a militant organisation and see to it that it meets the fate as that of other terrorist organisations.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that a meeting led by Prime Minister Imran Khan was held yesterday. It was attended by the representative of intelligence and other relevant institutions.

He said that it was decided in the meeting that the TLP would not be treated as a political party at any cost and the government would now treat it as a militant group. He added that all other institutions including the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should see the group in the name manner.
