Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Akram Cheema was arrested when the police intercepted his vehicle on orders of Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa for reckless driving after he misbehaved with the judge. The incident took place when the MNA's speeding car passed by the judge's squad on Constitutional Avenue in Islamabad.
According to reports, the MNA misbehaved with the judge. Cheema was then briefly arrested by the police as his vehicle was found to be non-custom paid.
According to reporter Asad Toor, Justice Isa was walking to the SC building by foot and his squad was following him, when Akram Cheema's car passed by. The lawmaker was driving recklessly, to the judge's dismay. Justice Isa's squad intercepted the MNA's car and found it to. be suspicious. The judge ordered the police to investigate the matter of suspicious car. Subsequently, the police found the vehicle to be non-custom paid and arrested the MNA. He was later released.
Further, the judge told another reporter, Ahmed Adeel Sarfraz, that he had not ordered the MNA's arrest, but merely sought an investigation into the suspicious vehicle. The reporter also quoted the judge as saying that the person in the said vehicle misbehaved with him, adding that he did not know who the person was. The judge further said that the driver of the vehicle rushed the car into the Parliament building and used 'strong words'.
