Jam Kamal on Sunday resigned from his position as chief minister of Balochistan, Provincial Minister for Sports Abdul Khaliq Hazara has confirmed.

According to reports on electronic media, Kamal’s resignation was accepted by Balochistan Governor. This was later confirmed by the Governor House Secretariat.

The provincial cabinet of Balochistan has been dissolved and a session of the provincial assembly cannot take place until the appointment of a new chief minister.

Balochistan Assembly Speaker Mir Abdul Qudoos Bizenjo was seeking voting on the no-confidence motion against the CM Jam Kamal on October 25 (today).

Disgruntled members of the BAP and the Opposition leaders gathered at Bizenjo’s residence after the announcement of Kamal’s resignation and celebrated their triumph.

The four ‘missing’ lawmakers of Balochistan Assembly also returned to announce that they would be join group of disgruntled BAP members. This helped the party secure the required numbers to oust the Kamal’s government in the province.

The four MPAs, who had gone missing on the day when the disgruntled group had tabled the no-confidence motion in the assembly, arrived in Quetta on Sunday and declared their support for the group. Former chief minister of Balochistan Sanaullah Khan Zehri has also thrown his weight behind the disgruntled group.

Later, on Sunday, Kamal said he had resigned after consultation with other stakeholders.

“For the last one month, I had become a victim of ups and downs, challenges, and conspiracies,” Kamal said. He said his loyalists stood with him during this ordeal.
