The Pakistan Bar Council has condemned attacks on journalist Asma Shirazi by the ruling PTI government and its prominent figures. The Bar Council came out in support of “freedom of expression” and stated that it abhorred the use of intimidation against media personnel.
As the rhetoric aimed at Asma Shirazi from ministers and pro-government voices intensified, a number of journalists have already condemned what they see as an organised intimidation campaign.
Press clubs and journalist unions across the country have condemned Dr Shahbaz Gill’s comments regarding journalist Asma Shirazi. Gill has been banned from entry by all press clubs until he apologises to Shirazi.
