Following Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz’s press conference earlier today, some journalists wrote on Twitter that she extended support to Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa over the matter of appointment of the new DG ISI.
. @MaryamNSharif criticises @ImranKhanPTI and stands with #COAS Bajwa and the postings announced by him.

However, it appears that Maryam Nawaz was misquoted on the issue. Addressing the media outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), the PML-N leader said that the apparent standoff between government and the military over the appointment of the new DG ISI has nothing to do with civilian supremacy. “While the authority to appoint the DG ISI rests with the prime minister, Imran Khan is not a democratically-elected PM,” she said.
It is being falsely reported that Maryam Nawaz sided with military over the DG ISI fiasco. Here’s what she actually said: The authority to appoint DG ISI lies with the PM but Imran Khan is not a legitimate PM. Further, Maryam Nawaz accused the government of using ‘magic’ to take decisions on major appointment which directly impact the security of the country.
Instead of the prime minister, jinns make appointments and determine the timing of such decision, she said, adding that it was not surprising that Pakistan has become a laughing stock of the world.
The PML-N leader expressed these views while addressing media earlier today.
She further said that if the government’s magic tricks and the assistance of the jinns are so successful, why isn’t it being used to improve its performance and resolve the issues facing Pakistan?
She further said that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB)’s petition against her was absurd. “I want to know who is the super intelligent person behind this petition,” she said, adding that the individual deserves a 21-gun salute.
IHC earlier heard appealed submitted by Maryam Nawaz against her sentence in Avenfield reference.
