Top Heads Met On Monday To Resolve Deadlock: Reports

After days of speculations on social media, which was later picked up by electronic media as well, it is being reported that a meeting of top figures was held on Monday evening to resolve the alleged deadlock over the recent postings in the military.

Government representatives have remained unusually silent on the rumours circulating on social media. When asked about civil military relations in a press conference, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed dodged the question, saying Fawad Chaudhry or Pervez Khattak were the appropriate authorities to comment in this regard.

In an appearance on a TV talk show, journalist Saleem Safi confirmed that a meeting of top military and civil leaderships took place on Monday in which the way forward was discussed. Safi said he was expecting the matter to be resolved today, and that the much-awaited notification from the PM’s Office could be issued shortly.

It is important to recall here that an alleged deadlock between civil and military leaderships is being reported on social media on the issue of the posting DG ISI. The ISPR had issued a statement on October 6 announcing the new postings and transfers. The posting of DG ISI is yet to be confirmed by the PM’s office. Insiders close to these developments say the delay in the confirmation of the new posting is a procedural matter and could be resolved soon.
