Banned TLP Chief Saad Rizvi Set To Be Released As DC Lahore Issues Notification
Lahore Deputy Commissioner has issued a notification ordering banned Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) leader Saad Rizvi's release.

The notification said that the order was being issued in compliance of the Lahore High Court (LHC) orders saying that Rizvi should be released if he is not wanted in any other case. It further said that the matter was discussed during a meeting of the Federal Review Board (FBR) held at the apex court, and the case was dispose of.

Earlier this month, the LHC had suspended orders for detention of banned TLP chief Saad Hussain Rizvi, ordering his release.

The court issued the orders after while hearing an application filed by Saad Rizvi’s uncle Ameer Hussain.
On July 2, the provincial review board had dismissed the government’s application under MPO to extend Saad Rizvi’s detention.

Saad Rizvi was detained once again on July 10 under the Anti-Terrorism Act after the plea to extend his detention was rejected.

Earlier in April, the government had banned the TLP through a notification in the wake of violent protests held by the group across the country against the outfit’s chief Saad Rizvi’s arrest.

Six policemen were killed while more than 800 sustained injuries during the clashes with TLP workers and supporters. An agreement signed between government and the TLP had finally brought an end to the week-long protests.
