Lord Krishna's Statue Allegedly Desecrated In Sindh On Holy Day For Hindus

A mob reportedly attacked and vandalised a Hindu temple in Khipro, Sindh. The incident occurred on the day the Hindu community was celebrating Janmashtami, a festival to mark the birthday of Lord Krishna.

A local Hindu woman claimed that policemen were complicit in the attack.

Further, according to reports circulating on social media, a mob broke into the temple and attacked a statue of Lord Krishna, leaving it broken on the floor. The claims were however not independently verifiable.

Representatives of the Hindu community in Sindh are calling on the Sindh chief minister and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, chairman of the ruling party in Sindh, to take notice of the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.

MNA Lal Malhi, who is the parliamentary secretary on human rights, shared a photograph of the vandalized statue on Twitter and condemned the incident. He also urged law enforcement personnel to act swiftly and arrest the culprits to discourage further such attacks on places of worship of minority communities.
