The chosen one

We know all about The Chosen One, the Wowdah on the Howdah. There’s not a rule he hasn’t broken, a boundary he hasn’t crossed, yet this US born member of the Upper House is untouchable. For a smidgeon of his transgressions, anyone else would have been hung, drawn and quartered. But not him. He had to resign from the Lower House because there is clearly a problem with the nationality issue. He was immediately given a berth in the Upper House – and the responsibility for having hoist the Wowdah on the Howdah was laid at The Khan’s door. But that’s not true, says our mole. The Chosen One’s real protectors are in the shadowy state apparatus. A confidant of The Khan confronted him with this, saying the Party’s anti-corruption mantra rings hollow with the Wowdah so prominently on the Howdah. The Khan is said to have replied, “ask them. He’s their man.”

Internal strife

What else did we expect, of a disparate coalition that isn’t really a political party at all. Don’t forget, the ideological cadre of The Great Khan’s horde parted ways long ago. What’s left of the “party” is riven with internal strife. We hear they’ve all got a knife out for each other. So it goes that the poet’s son doesn’t lose a chance to stick it into Chaudhry Einstein who has taken his place. Chaudhry Einstein, they say, has one eye on the Home Ministry, which is presently the preserve of Sheeda Tully. The latter has it in for The Khan’s Accountability Czar and wouldn’t mind taking on his portfolio too. And so it goes on and on.

An old friend of The Great Khan says he relishes this infighting and bickering, and loves to play one off against the other.

Fall from grace

Time was when The Khan’s blue-eyed boy could do no wrong. Since his mysterious fall from grace, we hear his extended family is being put through the wringer for no fault of theirs. The revenue and tax departments and other sundry organisations are going through their affairs with a comb. The likelihood is that they will find nothing of significance because those of the boy’s clan that stayed in situ and did not migrate to greener pastures like his dad, are reportedly clean and by the book.
