Rapprochement
The rapprochement between the late lamented Big Ben’s Hubby and The Man of Steel was mediated by none other than MFR. By the time he called Hubby, it had begun to dawn on the latter that the public spat between the PDM’s two biggest stakeholders wasn’t doing him any good. His son and heir, Billy The Kid, had previously confided to a friend, “we should not be seen to be on the wrong side of history”.And this was exactly the tack MFR took with Hubby. “You have played your innings”, he’s rumoured to have said, “but this public betrayal of the opposition to an unpopular government will cost your heirs”, or words to that effect. He also told Hubby that the resentments of the past should be put aside for the sake of the country’s future and that of “succeeding generations”. The meaning was not lost on Hubby. Hence the conciliatory phone call between Hubby and The Man of Steel that has put the PDM on an even keel again.

As if the cabinet weren’t stuffed full of people as it is, we hear there are going to be three new additions. Two are said to be nominees of The Boyz – for services rendered during the recent Senate elections and pandering to other “state imperatives” – and one candidate is The Great Khan’s preference. The Boyz’s candidates are both from the periphery, where amidst a fair amount of hostility, they have displayed consistent “loyalty”. The Khan’s nominee is said to have qualified for the simple reason that he is aggressively anti-opposition in Parliament and wears his badge of verbal bashing with pride. Bravo!
Lowest common denominator
The poet’s son, poor guy, has tried hard to go down to the lowest common denominator but failed. We hear The Khan is unhappy with him, and has been for some time, but it was deemed unseemly to replace him so soon after his appointment as the government’s info tsar. Now, sources say, The Khan’s patience has run out. SF will soon be replaced, rumour has it, by either of two contenders. One is Paradise Lover, the other is up to his Gills in bile. The problem is that both are also warring with each other and their exchanges have been bordering on the abusive. Isbad’s punters are betting on Paradise Lover, because they say she has the backing of the Home Department.
