Who dunnit?

It’s no secret that The Great Khan disapproved of The Man of Steel’s departure from Pakistan. Insiders say he blows a fuse each time he sees evidence of The Man strolling around London. Now that The Man has consciously become more politically active – some say in retaliation to the dishonoured “deal” whereby it was agreed that no harm would come to his daughter in exchange for his silence – there is more angst on a daily basis. We hear The Khan is livid and has asked for a thorough examination of how the medical reports were made, that allowed The Man to leave Pakistan. He wants all revealed, we hear, no matter who all are alienated. Our mole says The Khan proclaimed as much in a meeting of the kitchen cabinet. Who dunnit?

Guest of the state

We know that many plans have been made and unmade to remove the occupant of Takht Lahore, right from the get go. There is growing unease in powerful quarters about the bad press they’re getting in the Land of the Five Rivers for a government that has not delivered. They are held responsible and they are blamed, that much is clear. Many candidates have been readied and discarded over the last two years, but Takht Lahore has remained unshaken. This last putsch to remove the incumbent is the most serious one yet, in which the NABbers are out to get him.

It was in this spirit that a plan was hatched to invite Takht Lahore’s occupant to become a guest of the state, at his last hearing. But before that was put into action, it was considered appropriate to sound out The Great Khan. The response from the Khan went something like this: the occupant will remain on Takht Lahore even if he is in prison. So that was that.

Radio silence

In a recent television interview, The Great Khan sang the praises of his one-time right hand man, who fell from grace a few months ago. The latter gent reciprocated with the same sentiments and rumours began to fly that a rapprochement was imminent. However, the truth is that The Khan holds a grudge forever and the songs of praise were cosmetic. There is radio silence on both sides.
