Fickle fortune

Insiders say The Great Khan is chaffing at the bit, wanting to put his remaining detractors in the slammer. The Man of Steel’s Bro has been his pet peeve for a long time and he’s determined to get him incarcerated again. In fact, our mole reports that he’s been telling The Boyz that Bro needs to go back in, just this once, and he can be bailed out later but that for the moment “his blood is boiling” and needs to be sated.

In the same vein, an old warhorse of The Khan’s original horde recently advised an acquaintance not to apply for a high profile government job. He said The Khan is impressionable and easily influenced. He said, in Urdu, “nazdeek say bhi na guzarna. Maaray jao gay” (don’t go near them, you’ll be destroyed). He then related his own experience. He said soon after his government appointment was notified back in 2019, he was fast asleep when he got a call from a friend who urged him to put on the telly. The headlines informed him that he had been discharged – without warning or a by your leave. This has happened time and again to ministers, advisors and officials. As the 18th century English poet Alexander Pope said: “Fickle Fortune reigns, and, undiscerning, scatters crowns and chains.”

Not over

It’s not over till it’s over, goes the famous saying. The same seems to apply in the sugar and wheat cases, where on the face of it, all cracks appear to have been papered over but behind the scenes, The Great Khan is urging the Feds to dig out the dirty. We hear the ceasefire was ordered by the commanding officers but The Khan is not at peace with this, and is urging the investigators to do their hatchet job.

Ertugrul & Halime etc.

With the head of government urging all Pakistanis to watch the popular Turkish soap “Dirilis: Ertugrul” (based on the story of a 13th century Turkmen warrior, father of the Ottoman Empire’s founder), we hear a suggestion has been mooted that the cast of the series be invited to the country after Ramzan, once coronavirus has been managed. The invitation, they say, will go out to all members of the cast, with special solicitations to actors Engin Altan Duzyatan (Etrugrul Ghazi), Esra Bilgic (Halime Sultan) and Osman Soykut (Ibn Al Arabi).
