Daily Jang (10 February 2020) reported that Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Hammad Azhar stated that when it came to the rising prices of essential goods, the government is aware but not alarmed (hamein mehngai ka ehsas zarur hai, ghabrahat nahin).


Time to Tell?


Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman of the JUI-F, according to Daily Jang (10 February 2020), claimed that it was time for Pervez Elahi to tell the people about that which he had called ‘amanat’ (waqt aa gya jisay Pervez Elahi jissay amanat kehtay hein, woh raz awam ko bataein).

Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar was quoted by Daily Dunya (14 February 2020) as saying that his administration would go to the furthest limits to ensure that unadulterated and pure foods are supplied to the people of the province (awam ko khalis ghaza ki farahmi ke liay akhri hadd tak jaein ge).


Two Lovers of Daska


According to Daily Express (15 February 2020), two boys from Daska bought flowers and stood waiting when three girls passed by them. When the two boys attempted to ‘express their love’ (izhar-e-muhabbat karnay ki koshish ki), the girls beat them with shoes. Consequently, the boys forgot about expressing their love and ran away (larkay izhar-e-muhabbat bhool kar bhaag gae).


Building a Welfare State


Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan, according to Daily Express (16 February 2020), claimed that those the government’s shelter homes initiative was a reflection of the welfare-based approach of the State of Madinah (Riyasat-e-Madinah ki falahi soch ki akas hai). In her view, those ridiculing the government did not care about the suffering of the poor. In fact, she went on to state, those who claimed to care about the suffering of the poor were having a good time abroad (beyroon-e-mulk ayashian kar rahay hein).
