Positive thinking
According to Daily Jang (25 December 2019), PM Imran Khan has stated that 2020 will be a year of progress (taraqi) for Pakistan and that the government will bring about further improvements in the economic situation, with jobs being generated for the masses.
Bilawal’s view
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was quoted by Daily Dunya (28 December 2019) as saying that the politics of Kufah could not give rise to the state of Madinah (Kufah ki siyasat se Madinay ki riyasat nahin bann sakti). He went on to claim that 2020 will be the year of fair elections and people’s rule (awami raj), and that people from Khyber to Karachi were bidding farewell (Alvida) to the Selected.
Cosa Nostra
PM Imran Khan, according to Daily Dunya (29 December 2019), is of the view that a Mafia which was benefiting from the corrupt old system is creating obstacles everywhere. He went on to observe that whenever the current administration tried to bring about change, this Mafia was resisting it (jab hum tabdeeli kartay hein tou wo muzahmat karta hai)
Thoughts for the New Year
Mufti Naeem was quoted by Daily Express (29 December 2019) as calling upon the government to impose restrictions on New Year Night celebrations, since non-Shariah and indecent (hayabakhta) culture is a major factor in the destruction of the new generation and its drift away from education. He went on to opine that the last day of the year ought to be a moment for accountability (ehtesab) and not celebration (jashn).
Amir Muqam on U-turns
The PML-N’s Amir Muqam, according to Daily Jang (29 December 2019) is of the view that PM Imran Khan had become a master of the U-turn. He further added that the PM had completed three centuries of U-turns and was now preparing for a fourth.
