“Relatively” important

The good news is that the patronage culture in government is under attack. The bad news is that some people with “relatively” important connections are trying to ensure that it is business as usual in Naya Pakistan. Rumour has it that in early August, a weighty personage tried to register a property transfer without paying the requisite dues. He was told by the concerned officials that it was illegal. Apparently, the transfer deed specified a gift of rural and urban land from his ex-wife to him, dated late July 2018, post Elections. Wags are wondering how she could “gift” the property, since she was no longer his spouse. By the same criterion, the signatures and thumb impression on the deed remain a mystery.

Brewing storm

Agent who ministers to an important aspect of government is in the eye of a brewing storm. Our mole says he made unwanted advances on some of his female colleagues and they have resolved to bring a case of sexual harassment against him if he repeats his conduct.
