JUI-F leader Senator Hafiz Hussain Ahmad took the view, according to Daily Dunya (03 September 2018), that Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman had not become a bridegroom (dulha) himself, but that he had been made one by PML-N. Nevertheless, he continued, it was Aitzaz Ahsan who had run away with the bride (dulhan) of Presidency before the wedding ceremony (nikaah) could even take place.

According to Daily Dunya (03 September 2018), a professor from Abbotabad University was arrested on charges of having set fire to records in the room where they were stored.


Cow rage


It was reported by Daily Dunya (03 September 2018) that Liladhar Vaghela, BJP leader from Gujarat, was attacked by a cow as he took a walk – resulting in broken ribs (pasliaan toot gaeen).


Kite boom


According to Daily Jang (03 September 2018), there had been a surprising (hairat-angez) rise in kite manufacture and kite-flying in the provincial capital of Lahore. The report went on to claim that the police and the district administration had closed their eyes to this spike in kite-related activity.


Daredevils


Daily Jang (03 September 2018) informed its readers that despite a concerted crackdown and awareness campaign by various law enforcement forces, the practice of one-wheeling and other motorcycle-based stunts by young men had continued unabated.


Exonerated


Daily Dunya (04 September 2018) reported that reports had been issued about the contents of Sharjeel Memon’s blood as well as the contents of the bottles found in his hospital room. There was no trace of alcohol in his blood – and the bottles contained olive oil and honey respectively.


Choice


Daily Jang (04 September 2018) quoted the US administration as having stated that if Pakistan wants better relations, it will have to operate according to the American strategy for Afghanistan.


Operation against false hope


The district government in Lahore, according to Daily Dunya (05 September 2018) has decided on a “grand operation” against fake pirs, faith healers, soothsayers and so on. The report stated that these pirs often lure simple citizens using promises of success in love, bringing a heartless husband to your feet, winning numbers for prize bonds, etc.

Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (06 September 2018) reported that the Aga Khan Hospital in Karachi had received a blood sample, but could not verify if it was Sharjeel Memon’s.


Results


Daily Express (09 September 2018) informed its readers of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts to persuade Pakistanis living abroad to contribute generously to the dam fund. According to the report, the Prime Minister was given to understand by Senator Faisal javed that there was a Pakistani-American who was willing to answer the new PM’s call (labbayk kehtay huay) and wanted to donate US $ 1 billion towards the dam fund.


Hindsight


Saad Rafique of the PML-N was quoted by Daily Express (09 September 2018) as expressing his view that his party had been mistaken in its support for the movement to restore the judiciary post-Musharraf. Saad Rafique stated that it seemed, in retrospect, that then President Zardari of the PPP had taken the correct stance regarding the judiciary.
