According to Daily Express (12 March 2018), PTI chief Imran Khan claimed that he would take Rana Sanaullah by the moustache and throw him into jail. Khan further added that he had not bowed before anyone until today, and would not allow the nation to do so either.


A miss


Daily Express (12 March 2018) stated that Imran Khan missed out on joining the ‘Joota Club’ (Shoe Club) during his visit to Faisalabad. A conspiracy to throw a shoe at him was revealed and the would-be thrower was apprehended by party workers and eventually handed over to police.


Choices


Tahir-ul-Qadri, according to Daily Express (12 March 2018), expressed his view that the boat of the Sharif family was sinking even in the court of the public (awam ki adalat) and that now the Sharifs had no option but jail. He went on to opine that the cancer of corruption in the country required major surgery to root it out – and that the people had to decide whether they wanted the current system and democracy or some change.


The real revolution


Ayesha Gulalai was quoted by Daily Express (12 March 2018) as saying that Imran Khan had spoken of change in the country, but that she would bring about a revolution. She stated that she would contest elections from Karachi and South Punjab.


Pulling a fast one


During a rally of the PML-N at Gujranwala’s Jinnah Stadium, Chief Minister of Punjab Shehbaz Sharif, according to Daily Jang (12 March 2018) was to be greeted by a pehlwan. The CM suddenly grabbed him and threw him off balance, but prevented him from falling. Eventually, though, the CM raised him up and embraced him.


After he quit the force…


According to Daily Express (12 March 2018), when police attempted to stop a person in Lahore’s Factory Area from flying a kite from his roof, he went down and began to thrash them. It turned out that he was a former police constable himself. He went on to rip up the uniform of a policeman and also made threats of dire consequences – until backup arrived and apprehended him.

Daily Nawa-i-Waqt (13 March 2018) reported that Asif Ali Zardari sat alone in his “Control Room” through the Senate elections, monitoring the proceedings from the uppermost level of his house in Islamabad.


No interest whatsoever


Daily Dunya (16 March 2018) quoted Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman as saying that Saudi Arabia had no interest in developing nuclear weapons, but would not be left behind in acquiring them if Iran developed them.

The PPP’s Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, according to Daily Dunya (18 March 2018), stated that he knew about whether or not Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman had backed the former’s party in the Senate elections, but that he would not say it.


Policing


Daily Jang (18 March 2018) reported that Lahore police had, during the first three months of the current year, arrested 1,380 people for flying kites, and 1,281 legal cases had been initiated. The report also cited a recommendation from a senior police official that special squads be formed to deal with kite-fliers.


Shame


The PML-N’s Abid Sher Ali, referring to the PTI, was quoted by Daily Jang (18 March 2018) as saying that a party which had a shameless leadership would also have shameless spokespersons to represent it.
