Miffed

We’ve heard that The Man of Steel has made overtures to the late lamented Big Ben’s Hubby, for a joint political front to face off the Establishment. But Hubby has been miffed with The Man since his offer to condole The Man’s youngest brother’s demise in January 2013 was spurned. An interlocutor revealed that Hubby is so furious that he is insisting on The Man’s personal appearance at his door.

Post-facto angst

There’s post-facto angst in The Great Khan’s camp over their defeat in the recent Lahore bye-election. A clique wanted the ticket to be awarded to the Glaswegian Guv, as a stronger candidate with moneybags, instead of the lady doctor. Most vocal is The Khan’s real estate tycoon who says he contributed “millions” to her recent campaign, half of which was unaccounted for. He maintains that the Party may have won this round if the Glaswegian Guv had been The Khan’s candidate instead of the lady doctor. The Khan was helpless, says our source, because the lady doctor threatened to set herself on fire in the midst of the constituency if she didn’t get the ticket!

Right to know

The public has a right to know. Why is the Government of Pakistan issuing National Identity Cards to foreigners, residents of far off lands? We’ve seen a copy of a Pakistan NIC issued to a Chinese national, clearly of the Han Chinese ethnic group. The card, issued in April this year, states that the gent is a resident of “China, Mainland”. Is this a reciprocal service between our two countries? Can residents of Pakistan obtain Chinese identity cards or the equivalent?
