Those who’ve met our new Premier recently, testify to the fact that the gent has a firm handshake, demonstrating sincerity of purpose. His body language is that of a professional, as is his ability to ask the right questions and to take quick decisions when the logic is clear. Most notably, he appears not to be egotistical, and imbued with his own importance. It’s reassuring to have someone like him filling in the vacuum pre-elections, when the country will decide who it wishes its leader to be.
As always, the late lamented Big Ben’s Hubby has negotiated a reprieve as only he can do, master tactician that he is! Our mole reports that up until two weeks ago, Hubby’s pal Dr A who’s been in the slammer for ages, was quite hopeless about a reprieve. He told our mole, “I have given up hope”. And then suddenly, with The Man of Steel’s disqualification, Hubby saw his opportunity and grabbed it. Rumour has it that he let it be known that, ever the democrat, he was open to discussions with The Man of Steel over the repeal of articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution, possibly paving the way for The Man’s return.
And the minute the powers-that-be heard about this, they began messaging Hubby with an alternative deal (read reprieve). Hubby grabbed the latter, and ensured the absolution of his partners, including Dr A, who’s apparently going to be let off so that he can travel abroad for treatment etc.
It was not to be
A source in The Man of Steel’s inner sanctum says Begum Sahiba was determined to stay the course, despite being ill. She was loth to leave Lahore, and wanted to be there for the campaign and the upcoming by-elections in NA 120. But it was not to be. A couple of days before her departure for London, we hear, she had severe pain in her neck and shoulders. Doctors were called in who said that the lymph nodes were inflamed and had to be seen to immediately. As it turned out, their diagnosis was correct and lymphatic cancer was diagnosed.
