Wool over their eyes

A consummate fraudster has succeeded in pulling the wool over the eyes of one of our great institutions, the ones that get off to a flying start. Apparently, he persuaded them to acquire a huge swathe of land near Gujranwala, 1000 acres they say, no less. With a view to setting up one of those ubiquitous “towns”. But before the institution could get into the act and get the scheme going, the fraudster floated the scheme, using the institution’s name and sold non-existent plots to the poor unsuspecting masses. By the time the institution got wind of the highway robbery, the fraudster had taken the loot and decamped to an unknown destination. The institution, with a lot of egg on its face and anger in its hearts, did a recce at the criminal’s family home and found them pleading ignorance and innocence. Utterly frustrated, the institution had no option but to “pick up” a relative of the fraudster, to try and get some money back for those who’d been fleeced in their name. The relative is said to have been a partner of the fraudster but there’s not much that can be done legally to get back the money. Only in the Land Of The Pure.

Riot act

We hear The Great Khan has read out the riot act to three of his party stalwarts. One of them is the guy who shot off his mouth about Canny having rigged the 2013 election. He asked to Show Cause, we hear, in no uncertain terms. The other pair is the Twitter Warriors — the gent glorifying General Bobby and the lady trashing him. The Khan apparently made his irritation very obvious and asked them to shape up or ship out.
