Taking a stand

A well-placed Pakistani-American in the employ of the Trump Corporation has tendered his resignation citing his reasons, which are ideological. The gent works for one of President Trump’s European properties and he is married to an Iranian woman, who retains her passport of origin. The couple were planning a holiday in the US when President Trump’s travel ban against 7 Muslim countries – Yemen, Syria, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Libya and Sudan – was announced. Despite the fact that a district judge and the Court of Appeals have overturned the ban, the Pakistani-American was devastated at the President’s action, and resolved to take a stand.

We hear he tendered his resignation to his seniors when the ban was announced but they tried to convince him to reconsider when the district judge struck it down, and when this decision was upheld by the Court of Appeals. “My point is”, the gent said in an email to friends, “that I don’t want to work for a company which is led by a man who thinks so little of us and who has no qualms in displaying his naked racism.”

The Pakistani-American’s Iranian wife has applied to become a naturalized citizen of the country where he works, and despite the courts’ decisions, have decided not to visit the United States with their (American) children over Easter.

Predictions of the future (from political scientists, pundits and soothsayers) don’t entail happy news for President Trump. America’s famous AstroTwins have predicted that “The end of 2017 will see Saturn returning to its home sign, Capricorn, which will signal a major astrological gut-check … This period will bring a rise in activism … in fact, the populist Aquarius eclipses could see the read and blue states band together once Saturn is fully flowing through Capricorn in 2018”. Or in the plain speak of Professor Lichtman (who predicted Trump’s win), President Trump will eventually be impeached by a Republican Congress that would prefer a President like the current VP. Lichtman says he is “quite certain” that Trump will give “someone grounds for impeachment, by doing something that endangers national security or because it helps his pocketbook.”
