Boy wins bet, loses life on railway track


Reported in Jang (November 22, 2015) trying to win a bet on who could lay on a railway track for the longest, a young engineering student was run over by a train in Faisalabad. The 19-year-old died on the scene.

The one-year-old terror suspect


Nawa-e-Waqt reports (November 22, 2015) a one-year-old baby was among the two suspects named in a terrorism case in Ferozewala. The case was registered after an election brawl. The second suspect has been living abroad for three years.

Election candidate cuts off rival’s ear after losing


The losing candidate in a local council election in Faisalabad cut off the winning candidate’s ear with a knife, Express reports (November 23, 2015). He was angry because his rival’s supporters had thrown firecrackers in his house when they were celebrating.

Thousands in court over CNIC errors 


According to Nai Baat (November 24, 2015) more than 4,000 citizens are in court against NADRA because of errors in their computerized national identity cards. They say they have to pay for NADRA’s errors. In one case, a girl is registered to have been born before her parents. Many young people have not been able to enroll in college because of incorrect names on their identity cards.

Liberals should go to India: JI chief 


Quoted in Dunya (November 25, 2015) Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq says those who want a liberal Pakistan should go to India. There is no space for liberal forces in Pakistan. The prime minister has disappointed the people of the country with his statement that he wants to make Pakistan liberal.

Shahbaz Sharif borrows money for bus ticket 


According to Jang (November 26, 2015) Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took a loan from PML-N leader Khwaja Hassaan to buy a ticket to travel in Lahore’s new double-decker tourist bus.  He told reporters he would return the money.

Teacher shaves heads of 100 students


Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (November 26, 2015) a teacher in a private school in Jhang shaved the heads of more than a hundred students because they did not memorize their lessons. The school administration said however that it was because they did not get haircuts despite several warnings.

Traffic cop pulls over ambulance taking patient to hospital


Dunya says (November 27, 2015) a traffic warden stopped an ambulance carrying a patient to a hospital, beat him up (tashaddud ka nishana banaya) and fined him, while the patient’s condition worsened (haalat ghair ho gayee). Traffic rules do not apply on ambulances carrying patients.

‘Qing Qi’ born in a Qing Qi


A woman gave birth to a girl and two boys while traveling in a Qing Qi rickshaw in Shikarpur, Express reports (November 28, 2015). The girl has been named Qing Qi Bibi.

Clothing outlet becomes warzone 


According to Nawa-e-Waqt (November 28, 2015) women at a clothing outlet sale began to fight with each other over clothes. They pulled each other’s hair, punched each other, and dragged each other on the floor. The shop became a warzone (maidan-e-jang).
