Discomfort
We hear there’s some discomfort amongst the khakis about the media hype surrounding General Bobby’s exploits. Our mole reports that at a recent meeting of the College of Cardinals, questions were asked about the wisdom of singling out Bob’s role in fighting terrorism and other evils. The view was that the fight against violent extremism and corruption was a “collective” decision by the khakis, and not just one man’s initiative. Wonder why the “collective” didn’t speak up in Canny’s era of Analysis Paralysis!
Rumblings
There are rumblings in another great national institution too. We hear there’s been a fracas or two between the bewigged ones as well. A story is doing the rounds about an adjudicator losing it with a guard who wouldn’t let him park his car in an unauthorized space. He then singled out the guard for punitive action, and when the Chief Adjudicator heard about it, he showed his disapproval and withdrew his junior colleague’s car. The latter fell upon the poor bearer of bad tidings and there was a bit of a fracas. We hear the matter’s now been sent to the Supreme Adjudicators’ Council for a decision.
Petulant politics
Rumour has it that The Man of Steel and his Talented Bro are rooting for different candidates for the mayorship of Lahore. The Man is supported by his Bro’s heir apparent, but Talented Bro is sticking to his guns and saying the Khawaja the duo is proposing is a gentleman but he has a more efficient candidate in mind. Meanwhile, young Bill has been busy congratulating the wrong Kaira for winning the Local Bodies elections! The one who’s won is from a different branch and not an ally of the former minister. We’ve also heard that The Great Khan’s ex has left her Shih Tzu or miniature dog at her former matrimonial home, and The Khan has no patience for it. He prefers big canines and hates cats and miniature mutts.
