Reported in Nai Baat (January 25, 2015) telephone lines of all the police stations in Dera Ismail Khan and the office of the District Police Officer were disconnected because they did not pay their bills, leaving no way for citizens to contact the police.

Dead woman becomes alive, but dies again

Reported in Jang (January 26, 2015) a 100-year-old woman died in a village near Thatha only to wake up (uth kharri hui) when her body was being bathed. However, she died again 12 hours later.

NADRA official sells 120 false ID cards to terrorists

Dunya reports (January 26, 2015) NADRA closed down is mobile service in Lahore, Gujranwala, Okara, Kasoor, Sheikhupura and Sialkot after an official sold 120 false identity cards to Uzbek and Afghan militants for Rs 2 million.

Pakistani soldiers decline Indian sweets

According to Dunya (January 27, 2015) Punjab Rangers soldiers deployed at the border with India declined the sweets offered to them by Indian Border Security Force men on India’s Republic Day.

Policemen caught shoplifting

Reported in Nai Baat (January 27, 2015) two policemen shopping at an apparel store in Hujra Shah Muqim were stealing more than a dozen pairs of clothes when they were caught on the security cameras. The cops (police kay sher jawan) were locked up and a case was registered.

Siddiqul Farooq’s car stolen at gunpoint

PML-N leader Siddiqul Farooq’s car was seized by armed assailants in Islamabad, reports Express (January 28, 2014). His driver was alone in the vehicle. The carjackers left their own vehicle on the scene.

Terror scare after school brawl

Reported in Jang (January 28, 2014) after a scuffle between students at a school in Kot Khwaja Saeed, one pupil’s father tried to sneak into the school in a women’s shawl. Someone thought he was a terrorist and called the police, scaring the administration (dorrain lag gaee).

Court asks cop to stand facing the wall

Dunya reports  (January 29, 2015) a Lahore High Court judge was so angry with a sub-inspector’s incompetent investigation in a case that he told him to stand facing the wall for an hour. He said suspects are released because of poor investigation by police, but people blame the courts.

New temptations for Nowshera students

Student arrested for false terror threat

Reported in Express (January 30, 2015) a 10-grade student was arrested after he sent a text message to his classmate threatening to blow their school up. The administration got into action (harkat main aa gayee) and located the source of the text message within an hour.

Imran Khan stopped civil disobedience for his wife

Quoted in Jang (January 30, 2015) Imran Khan says he stopped his civil disobedience movement because of his wife. I paid my electricity bill, he says, because although I can bathe in cold water, but my wife and her daughter cannot.
