According to Nai Baat (December 31, 2014) theater actresses are concerned (tashwish ki leher dorr gai) after a local newspaper ran unethical photographs of their colleagues Asha Chaudhry and Afreen Khan. Senior actors say such acts embarrass the entire community of artists, which is already infamous (badnaam).

Reported in Express (December 31, 2014) police stopped and searched a man at a picket in Lahore, and found counterfeit stamps of two post offices and the Home Department, a fake educational certificate, and seven bullets. The SHO was commended (shabash).

Teen arrested for threatening to blow up school

Express reports (January 1, 2015) a 17-year-old student was arrested in Taxilla for threatening to blow up his school in a text message to his principal. He said he was joking (az rah-e-mazaaq) and wanted to scare the school administration to get the winter holidays extended.

‘Pakistani children are the smartest’

Children beat up father with shoes

Reported in Nai Baat (January 2, 2015) when a man swore at his wife at a family court hearing in Sargodha, his five minor children beat him up with their shoes (joton say baap ki dhulai). They also chanted ‘Go Abba Go’. He fled the hearing. The court has issued warrants for his arrest.

PIA station manager roughed up in Lahore

According to Nawa-e-Waqt (January 2, 2015) PIA officials at Lahore Airport had to pay for extending a welcome to former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani (mehnga parr gya). The passengers who had been ignored for hours were extremely angry (ghussay say lal peelay ho gaye) and began to shove the station manager (charrhai kar di, dhakkam pail), because of which he fell down. Instead of saving him, his staff ran away.

Balochistan cops steal weapons, burn the store

Dunya reports (January 3, 2015) five officials of Balochistan Constabulary were arrested for stealing weapons and 700,000 rounds of ammunition from the force’s store. They set the store on fire to cover their theft.

Policewomen delighted by new uniform

Reported in Express (January 3, 2015) policewomen in Punjab are delighted (khushi ki leher doarr gai) their uniforms have been changed from blue shalwar kamiz to khaki pants and dark gray shirts. In their old uniforms, some thought they were security guards, while others would call them maasi, they said.

Rs 220m bill for 94 units of electricity

A domestic consumer of electricity was traumatized (bilbila utha) after he was sent a bill amounting to Rs 220 million, Jang reports (January 4, 2015). He had only used 94 units.

Overbooked PIA flights leave passengers behind
