Famous politician Sheikh Rashid belongs to the Butt caste but does not use that surname because he is embarrassed, according to Javed Hashmi (Dunya, September 30, 2014). How can he be a Sheikh when three of his brothers are Butt? His mother used to call him Rashid Butt, says Hashmi.

A railway crossing miracle

Reported in Jang (September 30, 2014), a motorist tried to pass through a closed railway crossing in Lahore, but could not make it. The train hit his car and threw it a long way, but he was able to jump out.

Polio team gets a thrashing in Gujranwala

Reported in Express (October 1, 2014) a woman and her brother in law were angered by a polio vaccination team in Gujranwala knocking at their door. They beat them up, leaving a lady health worker in serious condition (haalat ghair ho gaee).

Pakistani evil genius faces charges in America

A Pakistani owner of a company that sold an illegal cellphone spying application faces criminal charges in America, according to a report in Nai Baat (October 1, 2014). The application can record telephone calls and access calendars, emails and photo galleries of mobile phones in a 15 foot radius and had been sold for four years. Hammad Akbar, who belongs to Lahore, was arrested from Los Angeles and taken to a federal court.

Tahirul Qadri will not allow bigamy

Quoted in Dunya (October 2, 2014), Tahirul Qadri says he will not allow bigamy among his followers. The Indian and Pakistani culture is not compatible with two marriages. Sometimes the officials of his party protest (rotay, cheekhtay, chillatay hain) but he says whoever wants a second marriage should leave him.

No new Pakistan without Kashmir

Nawa-e-Waqt says in its famous column Sare Rahe (October 2, 2014) that Tehrik-e-Insaf should not create a new Pakistan, but complete the old Pakistan of the Quaid-e-Azam by making the entire Kashmir a part of it.

Man charged with land grabbing 13 years after his death

Jang reports (October 3, 2014) that a man who had died in 1993 was charged with occupying Railway land on September 13. His son went to court, which has asked Railway Police to explain themselves.

Ladder breaks down in every PTI rally

It has become a tradition in Tehrik-e-Insaf’s public gatherings for the stage ladder to break down, says Nai Baat (October 3, 2014). The tradition continued in Mianwali, where lots of men broke the security cordon and rushed to get on the stage. The ladder broke down under their weight and several workers were injured.

Meera told to wear decent clothes in Multan

Meera told Jang (October 4, 2014) that the new Pakistan has been made and now she can marry. She was in Multan to participate in a play. During the rehearsal, the vigilance committee told her not to wear a short shirt with open sleeves.

Jemima considers changing her surname

Now that Imran Khan has announced he will marry again, his ex wife Jemima Khan says she is considering changing her surname from Khan back to Goldsmith, according to Nawa-e-Waqt (October 4, 2014).

Gullu Butt wants to appear on TV, for big money

Reported in Dunya (October 5, 2014), the notorious Gullu Butt is asking for huge sums of money to appear on television. He is also speaking to advertising agencies to appear in ads.

Man tells judge he is ‘third umpire’

Reported in Nawa-e-Waqt (October 5, 2014), a man appearing in court on charges of misbehaving with a judge told the magistrate to hurry it up because he was the third umpire and had to go to the protest in Islamabad and raise his finger.
